Before you begin

Welcome to Powerlink's Community Grants.

Powerlink’s Community Grants support projects, events and activities that align with Powerlink’s community investment approach.  Our grants program supports our commitment to building sustainable communities and enhancing economic development. 

To be eligible for funding, your project or initiative must be located in one of the following Queensland localities:

  • Banana
  • Cairns
  • Cloncurry
  • Charter Towers
  • Flinders
  • Gladstone
  • Gympie
  • Isaac
  • McKinlay
  • Mount Isa
  • Richmond
  • Rockhampton
  • Somerset
  • South Burnett
  • Southern Downs
  • Toowoomba
  • Townsville
  • Western Downs

Projects must not commence prior to 1 January 2026 and applicants will be advised of the outcome within approximately 3 months of applying.

Powerlink's approach to community investment is guided by our Community Engagement Strategy.

Before you start this application form please ensure you have read the guidelines and have your project details, and organisational/auspice information (if applicable) handy. Only one application per organisation will be accepted each round.

Applications close 22 August 2025.

All information contained in your application will be used as part of the assessment process to determine whether your application is successful or not.

Preparing your application

The application is based around a series of questions specific to project details, project rationale and benefit, your organisation’s capability to deliver and budget information.

Applicants are welcome to keep their word count to under 250 words per response and additional information is optional. All requests for funding are required to provide evidence of Public Liability Insurance. Quotes for goods and services valued under $5,000 are not mandatory and are optional.

To complete this application you will need to provide the following:

  • ABN details;
  • Organisation or auspice information - If you are not an incorporated organisation you will need to provide a letter of support from your auspice (if applicable);
  • Contact details for the primary project's contact, the organisation contact and the organisation’s secondary contact details
  • Information about your project;
  • Mandatory attachments to your application include:
    • Public Liability Insurance (minimum $10million)
  • Optional attachments to your application include:
    • Quotes for goods and services for requests valued over $5,000.
    • Supporting evidence and documents (e.g. images)
